D
Break the news, you're walking out
C
To be a good man for someone else
D C Cmaj7
Sorry I was never good like you
D
Stood on my chest and kept me down
C
Hated hearing my name on the lips of a crowd
D C
Did my best to exist just for you
Pre Chorus 1 :
D C
Bet you rue the day you kissed a writer in the dark
D C
Bet you rue the day you kissed a writer in the dark
D C
Now she's gonna play and sing and lock you in her heart
D C G
Bet you rue the day you kissed a writer in the dark
Chorus 1 :
G Am Em
I am my mother's child, I'll love you 'til
my breathing stops
Am Em D
I'll love you 'til you call the cops on me
G Am Em
But in our darkest hours, I stumbled on a secret power
Am Em D
I'll find a way to be without you, babe
Verse 2 :
D
I still feel you, now and then
C
Slow like pseudo ephedrine
D C Cmaj7
When you see me, will you say I've changed?
D
I ride the subway, read the signs
C
I let the seasons change my mind
D C
I love it here since I've stopped needing you

I am my mother's child, I'll love you 'til

Ella
Marija Lani Yelich-O'Connor born 7 November 1996, known professionally
as Lorde (pronounced "lord"), is a New Zealand singer and songwriter.
Taking inspiration from aristocracy for her stage name, she is known for
employing unconventional musical styles and thoughtful songwriting.
Born in the Auckland suburb of Takapuna and raised in neighbouring
Devonport, Lorde expressed interest in performing at local venues in her
early teens. She signed with Universal Music Group in 2009 and
collaborated with producer Joel Little in 2011 to start recording
material.
Universal Music commercially released the pair's first collaborative effort, an extended play (EP) titled The Love Club, in 2013. The EP's international chart-topping single "Royals" helped Lorde rise to prominence. Her debut studio album Pure Heroine followed that year and achieved critical and commercial success. The following year, Lorde curated the soundtrack for the 2014 film The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1 and recorded several tracks, including the single "Yellow Flicker Beat". Her second studio album Melodrama (2017) garnered widespread acclaim and debuted at number one in the United States.
