Rob Thomas - We Were Beautiful

Verse 1 :
             Em7
I am not so sure, I am not so brave
                 Cmaj7
You are not so broken, you cannot be saved
               D5/A
We are just affection, thrown out in all directions
                   Em7
We cannot take it back, can you picture that?
                Em7
This is all we have, this is all we need
                Cmaj7
Life is like a circle coming back to me
                  D5/A
This will not be easy, this will not be safe
              Em7
Nothing ever feels that way no more

Chorus :
           Cmaj7 Em7
Yeah, but once we were young
        D5/A Em7
We were beautiful and we were strong
                    Cmaj7 Em7
We didn't think too hard of what would come
               D5/A Em7
'Cause we were beautiful when we were young

Verse 2 :
                            Em7
Well, I'm somewhere in the moment, I ain't lost, I own it
               Cmaj7
I see what it can be, the proof is all around me
                     D5/A
Second thoughts and doubt turn me inside out
                 Em7
The innocence I lack, can you picture that?
        Em7
So you call on the devil but the devil don't come
                                                   Cmaj7
You call on yourself 'cause you never need no one else
                                                               D5/A
Like this is the last time, like you've been lost inside your mind
                                           Em7
Fighting all this time, your memories are kind

Living life in rewind

Chorus :
                  Cmaj7 Em7
Just reminds you once we were young
        D5/A Em7
We were beautiful and we were strong
                    Cmaj7 Em7
We didn't think too hard of what would come
        D5/A Em7
We were beautiful when we were young
            D5/A
Oh, we were beautiful when we were young

Instrumental : Cmaj7 Em7 D5/A Em7 (x2)

Chorus :
           Cmaj7 Em
Yeah, but once we were young
        D5/A Em
We were beautiful and we were strong
                    Cmaj7 Em
We didn't think too hard of what would come
        D5/A Em7
We were beautiful when we were young

Chorus :
          Cmaj7 Em7
Oh yeah, once we were young
        D5/A Em7
We were beautiful and we were strong
                    Cmaj7 Em7
We didn't think too hard of what would come
               D5/A Em7
'Cause we were beautiful when we were young
              D5/A Em7
Yeah, we were beautiful when we were young
