Jesus in LA Chords and Lyrics by Alec Benjamin
Artist : Alec Benjamin
Song : Jesus in LA
Album : These Two Windows
Dm7 C
Well, I shook hands with the devil
down on the south side
down on the south side
G Am7
And he bought us both a drink
Dm7 C
With a pad and a pencil sat by his side
G Am7
I said "Tell me what you think"
Pre Chorus :
Dm7 C
I've been looking for my savior,
looking for my truth
looking for my truth
G Am7
I even asked my shrink
Dm7 C
He brought me down to his level,
said "Son, you're not special
said "Son, you're not special
G Am7
You won't find him where you think"
Chorus :
Dm7 C
You won't find him down on Sunset
G Am
Or at a party in the hills
Dm7 C
At the bottom of the bottle
G Am
Or when you're tripping on some pills
Dm7 C
When they sold you the dream you were just 16
G Am
Packed a bag and ran away
Dm7 C
And it's a crying shame you came all this way
G Am
'Cause you won't find Jesus in LA
Dm C
And it's a crying shame you came all this way
'Cause you won't find Jesus in LA
Instrumental : Dm C G Am (x2)
Verse 2 :
Dm7 C
Took a sip of his whiskey,
said "Now that you're with me
said "Now that you're with me
G Am7
Well, I think that you should stay"
Dm7 C
Yeah, I know you've been busy
searching through the city
searching through the city
G Am7
So let me share the way
Pre Chorus :
Dm7 C
I know I'm not your savior, know
I'm not your truth
I'm not your truth
G Am7
But I think we could be friends
Dm7 Am7
He said "Come down to my level,
hang out with the devil
hang out with the devil
G Am7
Let me tell you, in the end"
Chorus :
Dm7 C
You won't find him down on Sunset
G Am
Or at a party in the hills
Dm7 C
At the bottom of the bottle
G Am
Or when you're tripping on some pills
Dm7 C
When they sold you the dream you were just 16
G Am
Packed a bag and ran away
Dm7 C
And it's a crying shame you came all this way
G Am
'Cause you won't find Jesus in LA
Dm C
And it's a crying shame you came all this way
G Am7
'Cause you won't find Jesus in LA
Bridge :
C
And that is when I knew that it
was time to go home
was time to go home
G/B
And that is when I realized that I was alone
Am
And all the vibrant colors from
the lights fade away
the lights fade away
F G
And I don't care what they say
Chorus :
Dm7 C
You won't find him down on Sunset
G Am7
Or at a party in the hills
Dm7 C
At the bottom of the bottle

When they sold you the dream you were just 16
G Am7
Packed a bag and ran away
Dm7 C
And it's a crying shame you came all this way
'Cause you won't find Jesus in LA

Dm7 C
I won't find him down on Sunset

At the bottom of the bottle
G Am7
Or when I'm tripping on some pills
Dm7 C
When they sold me the dream I was just 16
G Am
Packed my bag and ran away
Dm7 C
And it's a crying shame I came all this way

'Cause I won't find Jesus in LA

And it's a crying shame you came all this way

Shane Benjamin born May 28, 1994 is an American singer-songwriter from

depict descriptive stories from his own personal experiences. He also
gained much attention from his demos. In addition, to his solo project,
Benjamin has found success in songwriting with artists such as Jon
Bellion, including a songwriting credit on the track "New York Soul
(Part II)" from Bellion's album The Human Condition. He is heavily
influenced by artists such as Eminem, John Mayer, Paul Simon and Ben
Gibbard. In 2019, he recorded two singles with Spotify Studios NYC, one
of them being a cover of Eminem's song, "Stan".
Initially,
Alec Benjamin signed to Columbia Records, whilst still being enrolled
at USC. However, Columbia Records then ended their partnership before he
was able to submit his album. Despite this, he used other methods to
gain a following: he performed his songs in parking lots outside Shawn
Mendes and Troye Sivan concerts and handed out business cards to promote
his work. He is considered to be a self-made artist.
